If you haven’t heard of her yet…then where the heck have you been? 😉 Brene Brown is a professor from Texas whose research and writing on vulnerability and shame are truly profound. She’s done a couple TED Talks but this one is my favorite–in fact, it’s one of my favorites of all the TED talks.

We face constant challenges and transitions in our life, whether we’re building families, building homes, building careers, retiring, marrying, divorcing, saying hello, or saying goodbye…we’re constantly faced with them. They bring up fears of all sorts as well as questions of worthiness, value and vulnerability. In many cases these transitions throw us into vulnerability because all the rules we’ve lived by up to that point in our life no longer apply. In a way, all bets are off. So of course we feel vulnerable, which is a feeling often related to weakness. But it is vulnerability which could be our greatest strength.

Take a few minutes to watch Dr. Brown speak. You’ll be glad you did – on so many levels.
